Aiding a Medical Brace in Critical Condition

Challenge

A leading supplier of orthopedic braces met GTP at a trade show. This customer competes in a congested market where pricing pressure is constant. They needed a fabric that could withstand the constant stretching and pulling caused by a brace alternating between extended and retracted positions. It also had to be soft and compatible with skin contact without triggering allergies or chafing.

Solution

After experimenting with woven and knitted designs, we developed a nonwoven construction out of microfiber yarns to create fabric that was soft and resilient, soothing to the touch, and within the customer’s price target.
